The Neuromuscular Physiology Laboratory is a research facility (WB 310) associated with the Department of Exercise Science at Syracuse University, and led by Dr. Kylie Harmon. Harmon’s research focuses on understanding the neuromuscular adaptations that occur in response to aging, immobilization/disuse, fatigue, and strength training, with an emphasis on both changes in motor unit behavior and alterations in the corticospinal pathway.

Research Interests:

  • Neuromuscular adaptations to strength training, aging, and limb immobilization/disuse

  • Preservation of function, especially muscular strength, during limb immobilization/disuse

  • Maintenance of strength throughout the lifespan, into advanced age

  • Neuromuscular responses to neural interventions, such as action observation and motor imagery
